Woburn Course Review

Woburn Golf Club is home to three magnificent golf courses, the more recent of which the Marquis; was designed by Peter Allis and Alex Hay and was host to the British Masters event.  The other two courses were created from the pine forest surrounding Woburn Village.

The Dukes Course hosted the British Masters for many years, and hosted some of the most famous names in golf.  It is no secret that the Spanish legend Seve, who won there, put Woburn amongst his favourite courses in the UK.

Built on sand all the courses have that fabulous light subsoil that is a delight to play from.

An interesting course with dramatic elevation changes in the front 9 holes dominated by the tricky 3rd, only 120yds long but the green is situated 100ft below the tee.  A dramatic hole, especially when the Rhododendrons that surround the teeing area are in full bloom.

Of all the holes the stand out one for me would be the 13th, yet another narrow tee shot to a sloping fairway, to a green situated into the side of a slope and a dramatic fall off short and right.  Accuracy with your mid iron approach crucial!!

A fabulous facility and any one of the three courses are truly first grade.

A brilliantly stocked Professional Shop and friendly staff throughout!
